At least four women were killed and several others injured when a firecracker factory operating under Rajabpur police station limits in Amroha district exploded on Monday (June 16, 2025).
The incident occurred around 11:45 a.m. in Atrasi village. The impact of the blast brought down the entire structure of the building. The unit was situated in a field, away from densely populated areas. The cause of the explosion remains unknown. The district administration has constituted a committee to investigate the incident.
Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Anand said, “In Atrasi village, we received information of an explosion in a factory. Immediately, police and ambulance rushed to the spot. This is registered in the name of Saif-ur-Rehman, who belongs to Hapur. Further legal action is being taken, and the investigation is underway.”
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, while expressing grief over the incident, directed the district administration to expedite relief work.
“Taking cognizance of the accident that took place at a firecracker factory in Amroha district, U.P. CM Yogi Adityanath has directed the concerned district administration officials to reach the spot and expedite the relief work. Expressing deep grief over the loss of lives in the accident, he has expressed condolences to the bereaved families of the deceased. The Chief Minister has directed the district administration officials to immediately take the injured to the hospital and provide them with proper treatment. He also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured,” reads a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office.
