There has been an drastic increase in the number of devotees to the Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple at Srisailam since the past two days following the lifting of the crest gates of Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy Srisailam Project. Anticipating that the rush would continue for the next one week, Srisailam temple authorities have cancelled the free sparsha darshan facility for the entire week.
The opening of Srisailam crest gates has made the lush green Nallamala forest more scenic and large number of tourists from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have thronged Srisailam. The tourists also visit the famous Lord Shiva temple, which has added to the weekend rush of devotees.
The Srisailam temple authorities recently introduced a time slot for free sparsha darshan to facilitate a chance for common devotees to touch the Shiva Lingam and get blessings. This facility was provided from Tuesday to Friday of every week.
With the temple witnessing heavy rush, the authorities announced that the free sparsha darshan would not be allowed from July 15 to 18. Only ‘alankara darshan’ would be allowed for the ‘sarva darshan’ devotees, and the temple authorities have urged them to cooperate with the management in providing hassle-free darshan.
