PARIS: Roland Garros felt like it was exhaling on Monday, the sun soft and the air cool, an interlude after last week’s heatwave. Rain is forecast in the days ahead.Flavio Cobolli, however, was not afforded the same comfort.
The 10th seed had all but sealed his fourth-round match against American Zachary Svajda before nerves crept in, his serve wavered and the contest began to tilt.Yet just when the match appeared to be turning against him, the Italian found another gear, rallying from 0-4 and 1-5 down in the fourth set to prevail 6-2, 6-3, 6-7 (3), 7-6 (5) and reach the second Grand Slam quarterfinal of his career after last year’s Wimbledon.
Shnaider downs KeysDiana Shnaider, the 22-year-old bandana-sporting Russian, booked her place in a first Grand Slam quarterfinal after a three-set battle with Madison Keys on Court Suzanne Lenglen on Monday. The 25th seed beat 19th-seeded Keys, the 2025 Australian Open champion, 6-3, 3-6, 6-0.Earlier, Anastasia Potapova and Anna Kalinskaya played out another tight fourth-round contest, with Kalinskaya finishing strongest.

The teenager wrapped up a 6-2, 6-4 win in 72 minutes.Paparkar teamed with Thailand’s Kunanan Pantaratorn in the boys doubles and came through 7-6 (7), 6-2 against Britain’s Mark Ceban and Russia’s Kirill Filaretov in the first round.India’s Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi lost her second round the junior girls’ singles match 6-7(6), 4-6 to eighth-seeded Russian Mariia Makarova in a one-hour, 37-minute contest. Meanwhile, the Indo-Brazilian combination of Sriram Balaji and Marcelo Demoliner ousted sixth seeds Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz of Germany 7-5, 6-4 to make the quarterfinals.
