Frequent power outages irk Chinchinim-Deussua panchayat

Canacona: Frequent power outages are being experienced in the villages of Chinchinim, Deussua, Sirlim, Dramapur, and Sarzora, irking the Chinchinim-Deussua panchayat.The panchayat has written a letter to the executive engineer of the power department, Margao, to strengthen the night staff and to attend to electrical faults so that the power supply situation in these villages can improve.Sarpanch Frank Viegas said that Chinchinim-Deussua has been experiencing power outages several times a day and if residents call the office at Chinchinim, the reply is that the staff crunch is the problem.Viegas said that the electricity department office also caters to Sirlim, Dramapur, and Sarzora, which is an extensive area, and it needs extra staff to oversee the electricity line.Further, Viegas said residents complain that essential needs are affected due to the constant power outages. He said that considering the area, the staff fall short. He said because of the extra workload of the staff, the consumers suffer.
