From Chunky to Ahaan: How the Pandays are carving their own legacy

When we think of the families that have dominated Bollywood for decades, we first think of the Khans, Bachchans, and Kapoors. Many actors from these families have achieved success in the film industry.

The Kapoor family, in particular, has produced more than a dozen stars, while the Khan and Bachchan families have also produced celebrities for generations. Now, the Panday family is also establishing itself strongly in this list. So far, four actors have emerged from this family. Two of them have tasted success in their debut film.

Chunky Panday’s blockbuster journey in the 90s

The founder of this cinematic tradition was Chunky Panday. His journey, which began in the 90s, gained a strong place among the people with many blockbuster films like 'Tezaab,' 'Aankhen,' 'Vishwatmaa,' 'Zakhm.'

He became equally popular in serious roles as well as comedy roles. Even today, he continues to act in some major Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu films. His wife, Bhavna Panday, although not an actress, is well known among celebrities.

She also gained further fame through her appearance in the Netflix show 'Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives'.

Ananya Panday emerged as one of today’s leading ladies

Continuing the same tradition, Ananya Panday is the leading lady. She is one of the important actresses of this generation.

She has impressed the audience with her performances in various stories like 'Pati Patni Aur Woh,' 'Gehraiyaan,' and 'Dream Girl 2.' She has made her mark not only in the theatres but also on OTT platforms. Projects like 'Ko Gaye Hum Kahan,' 'Call Me Pay,' and 'CTRL' were hits. His portrayal of a lawyer in his latest release, 'Kesari Chapter 2,' was well-received.

Ahaan Pandey’s debut in ‘Saiyaara’ marked the arrival of a new talent

The new face of the family is 27-year-old Ahaan Panday. He made his debut in the film industry with the film 'Saiyaara', which was released on July 18, 2025. His performance in the film, which was a huge success at the box office, received much praise. Directed by Mohit Suri, the film also featured newcomer Aneet Padda in the lead role. While both received praise, it was Ahaan Panday's deeply emotional performance that impressed the audience the most. Thus, it is clear that a new chapter for the Panday family has begun in Bollywood.
