Minister for School Education and Literacy Madhu Bangarappa has said that steps have been taken to release requisite grants for development school infrastructure and amenities, including drinking water, fencing and playground and repair works.
Replying to a question by Hubballi Dharwad Central MLA Mahesh Tenginakai, Mr. Madhu Bangarappa clarified that grants had also been released for purchase of shoes and socks for the current academic year and they had been distributed the among the schoolchildren.
On Mr. Tenginkai’s allegation that officials were being asked to procure shoes and socks utilising the school funds, the Minister clarified that no such instruction had been issued and if any specific case was brought to his notice, he would initiate action.
Mr. Madhu Bangarappa also said that steps had been taken for filling up vacant posts in the primary and high schools of Hubballi Dharwad Central Constituency.
This apart, as per the budget announcement, steps were being taken to fill up 5,000 vacant posts in the Education Department. Smart classes, computer labs were being provided, he said.
