Chennegowda, who had essayed the role of ‘Gadappa’ in award-winning film Thithi, passed away in his native Nodekoppalu village in Mandya early on Wednesday, November 12. He was 89.
Sources said Mr. Chennegowda, who had been suffering from asthma and other age-related ailments, had hurt his hip during an accidental fall about a month back.
He had acted in many other movies like Tharle Village, Johny Mera Naam, and Halli Panchayati.
Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy has expressed his condolences over the actor’s death. In a statement here, Mr. Kumaraswamy said he was very pained after hearing the news of Mr. Chennegowda’s passing. Praying for the soul of the deceased to rest in peace, he said that he hopes the Almighty gives strength to the actor’s family members.
