The sole purpose of Ganesh Chaturthi is to adore Lord Ganesha with immense devotion. The day celebrates the birth anniversary of Lord Ganesha. This festival is observed on Chaturthi Tithi of Shukla Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada month. The most revered Ganesh Chaturthi event will take place on August 27, 2025.

Ganesh Chaturthi 2025: Significance

For Hindus, Ganesh Chaturthi is a very important and major holy festival. The nation celebrates this day with a lot of fanfare and happiness. This day is celebrated with a great grandeur and enthusiasm. Devotees carry an idol of Lord Ganesha to their homes on this auspicious day and worship him for eleven days, which is solely dedicated to worshiping Ganpati Ji. Devotees celebrate this day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Lor Ganesha.

On Anant Chaturdashi, the Ganesh Chaturthi festival will come to a conclusion and people do Visarjan on the last day of the festival. This is not mandatory that devotees have to keep the idol for 11 days as some devotees keep it for 1 and half day, 3 days, 5 days, 7 days or as per their convenience. Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Maharashtra are the states that celebrate this festival the most. People are cautioned not to look for the moon on this day since it is believed that anyone, who does could be cursed.

Thus, people should refrain from seeing the moon.


Ganesh Chaturthi 2025: Puja Rituals

Wake up early in the morning and clean the house specially the place, where you want to keep the idol. Decorate the place with flowers, lights and other decorative material. Bring Bappa at home according to the Muhurat. Place him there on the wooden plank, offer yellow flower garland or durva garland, light a diya with desi ghee, offer 11 blades of durva grass, offer modaks and boondi laddoos, sing bhajans and devotional songs to appease Bappa.

Chant various Vedic mantras to invoke the idol, recite stotrams and names of Lord Ganesha. At the end of the puja, recite aarti of Lord Ganesha "Jai Ganesh Jai Ganesh Jai Ganesh Deva" and spend the entire day with Bappa.
