Ganesh Chaturthi Stock Market Holiday 2025: As traders and investors prepare for the forthcoming trading sessions, many are curious whether the Indian stock market is open or closed today as we commence the 10-day festivities of Ganesh Chaturthi.

This year, Ganesh Chaturthi festivities are starting from Wednesday, August 27, 2025, resulting in the Indian stock market and commodities market being closed for trading today.

Ganesh Chaturthi is a state holiday in Maharashtra, and since the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) are based in Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra, they are likely to celebrate it.

Trading on the BSE and NSE will be halted for the day. This comprises the equity, equity derivative, and securities lending and borrowing (SLB) categories. Regular trading will resume on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

Trading in the Commodity Derivatives Segment and Electronic Gold Receipts (EGR) Segment will be closed solely during the morning shift, which runs from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Notably, this is the second midweek holiday of the month, following the closure of the markets on August 15, 2025, to commemorate the country’s 79th Independence Day.
