Gang booked for assault on teenagers

A teenage athlete and his friend were allegedly assaulted by a group of men near PJR Stadium, Chandanagar, on Saturday evening, leaving one of them with a broken tooth and bleeding from other injuries.

The incident was reported between 6 p.m. and 6.20 p.m. when the complainant and his friend had finished their training run and were standing near a shop outside the stadium.

According to an official from the Chandanagar police, three unknown persons approached the minors and began questioning why they had come from Gachibowli stadium to Chandanagar. One of the men, who identified himself as Karthikbegan assaulting them.

The attackers reportedly struck Yugender on the head after breaking his helmet and hit Adithya in the face, causing a tooth fracture and bleeding.

The complainant also alleged that the group was in an inebriated condition. The initial three men were soon joined by others, bringing the total to eight assailants, police said. In the scuffle, Adithya’s silver chain went missing.

A case was booked and an investigation is underway to identify the accused.
