Madurai: Actor Gautami Tadimalla on Sunday resigned from AIADMK, giving up both the party’s basic membership and her post as deputy secretary of its propaganda wing.In her resignation letter to party general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami, Gautami said she was relieving herself from the party, considering the present political situation and to pursue social service.
She thanked former ministers, headquarters functionaries, state wing secretaries and district-level office-bearers for their cooperation since she joined the party.Her exit comes months after she was discussed as a potential AIADMK candidate for the 2026 assembly election from one of the seats in Virudhunagar district. Gautami, who has Telugu roots, had submitted an application and sought a ticket, aiming to consolidate Telugu-speaking voters in the region. She was not nominated, but continued to campaign for AIADMK candidates in and around Chennai.
