Genshin Impact 5.7 Stygian Onslaught Guide, Best Teams, Rewards and More

Rounding out Genshin Impact’s version 5.7, Stygian Onslaught comes as the fourth permanent endgame challenge mode, testing players to their furthest extremes maximum team synergy, reaction timing, and elemental mastery.

Taking place between June 25 and July 29, 2025, the inaugural Stygian Onslaught cycle promises to be one of the most intense challenges yet, with each of the three boss fights punishing you more severely than the last! Here are some ways to navigate this high-stakes gauntlet.

What is Stygian Onslaught?

Stygian Onslaught is a multi-battle arena mode split into three “Battlefields”, each featuring a different boss with intricate mechanics and harsh elemental restrictions.

With players required to build three unique teams to clear each battlefield, stacking attack teams up five levels of difficulty, normal to fearless. Resin is required to claim artifact rewards, the mode is still enjoyable even after your reward window closes, providing bragging rights, and a test of mastery, for the best players.

Battlefield 1: Hydro Tulpa

Weakness: PyroImmune: HydroIn battle, the Hydro Tulpa is able to endlessly regenerate, in addition to summoning new, smaller Tulpa minions.

Killing these ASAP is important to stopping the boss from healing.Top Team: Mavuika, Xilonen, Citlali, BennettMavuika on the front lines with huge burst damage, Citlali from range with Cryo crowd control that freezes and shatters mini-Tulpas Bennett gives healing, and he has Pyro resonance.Specifically focused on lowering consumption emissions Arlecchino pairs well with Fischl, Xiangling, and Chevreuse for an Overloaded core that excels with other players or in solo play.

Cryo is still super important at Menacing and Fearless top levels.

Battlefield 2: Lava Dragon Statue

Weakness: Burning (Dendro + Pyro)Resistant to: Cryo, HydroThis new statue boss requires near-constant Pyro application, especially in its initial phase. Cryo and Hydro will increase its resistance stats.Top Team: Kinich, Emilie, Xiangling, BennettThis team only lets Pyro go down about 1% of the time. Emilie provides Dendro synergy, while Xiangling and Bennett rotate off-field Pyro support, enabling Kinich to control the front line.Alternative Teams:

  • Using Arlecchino with Nahida and Emilie for a high-damage Burning team.
  • With a Varesa-based team, skipping Dendro for straight raw damage – it’s more punishing on higher tiers.

Battlefield 3: Overseer Device Automaton

Weakness: CryoMechanic: Reduces all RES after Freeze comboHydro-based defenses, or even a Cryo-defensive ceaseless sniper. In one of the boss’ most challenging stages, perhaps the trickiest boss within this trio, the Automaton. For the Automaton, you need to apply consistent Cryo pressure to chip through its massive defenses.Top Team: Skirk, Shenhe, Furina, EscoffierSkirk and Shenhe will take care of Cryo DPS and RES shredding.

Furina provides teamwide buffs and Hydro application for Freeze, while Escoffier assists in keeping buffs and crowd control.Be smart about your freeze chaining, your war opponents will open heavy defense reduction uptime. Elemental synergy and timing are your most prized tools.

Rewards and Progression

Each challenge level has rewards of 150 Primogems, 100,000 Mora, and 5 Hero’s Wits. On higher tiers, such as Menacing and Fearless, players receive Dust of Enlightenment, an extremely desirable ascension material.Entry Requirement: Complete the quest “Tumult Subduer” from Liyue to unlock this mode via the Events tab.

Tips

  • Elemental Matchups Matter: Bosses that have a specific elemental weakness, or at least 1, punish the use of the wrong element hard. This is especially true on Hard Mode bosses.
  • Build Smart Teams: Invest in at least one Cryo, Pyro, and Dendro-based comp
  • Co-Op Ready: Higher tiers are helped out by shielders and more balanced damage spread.
