German champions Bayern Munich registered a 2-1 triumph over Stuttgart on Saturday in the final of the German Super Cup at the MHPArena in Stuttgart to clinch their 10th title in the competition.
The season’s curtain raiser between the league and cup winners was renamed in honour of the legendary German skipper Franz Beckenbauer.
Harry Kane put the Bundesliga champions in front before Luis Diaz added to the scoreboard in the 77th minute of the fixture, as Jamie Leweling’s late strike for Stuttgart proved nothing more than a consolation.

“We wanted to show everyone that we’re here. Wins and titles are not a given — we have to appreciate them," Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich said following the win.
Kane also lauded the impact newcomer Diaz has had on the side since his arrival from Premier League champions Liverpool in the ongoing transfer window.
“I think you can see what he brings 1v1," Kane said, terming the Colombia winger was really sharp, and agile.
“I think it’s important, especially in this modern football, for the winners to be scoring hopefully 15-20 goals a season," the Englishman added
“The goal was a great run, a great finish. Scoring your first competitive game for a new club is great and for it to be the winning goal is a perfect start for him," the forward said.

Diaz paid tribute to former teammate Diogo Jota after opening his account in the German top-flight.
“Luis obviously played with him and knew him well. I think the whole football world comes together in moments like that," the star striker said.
“It was a nice tribute to him and his family and his brother. That whole situation obviously is a sad situation. The more we can come together and show our love, I think the better," he concluded.
