Mukul Saran Mathur, the General Manager (GM) of South Western Railway, on Friday conducted an inspection of the Birur-Talaguppa section in Karnataka and evaluated safety parameters. Accompanied by other senior officers, the GM reviewed the ongoing infrastructure works, station development projects, and passenger amenities.
As part of the inspection, he visited Shivamogga Town railway station and reviewed its redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. He interacted with track maintainers and assured them of improving their working conditions. The GM also inspected the coaching depot at Koteganguru. Infrastructure facilities at the depot are currently being upgraded to meet growing demands.

Later, the GM stopped at Arasalu railway station, and visited the Malgudi Days Museum. The museum is a homage to writer R.K. Narayan, based on whose writing, actor Shankar Nag directed the television series Malgudi Days.
The GM also reviewed station development works at Talaguppa.
He was accompanied by Mudit Mittal, DRM of Mysuru Division, Pradeep Puri, Chief Engineer (Construction); and other officers of Mysuru Division.
