Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) Commissioner Puli Srinivasulu on Wednesday (August 20) directed engineering officials to ensure that all ongoing development works are executed within the stipulated timelines and that quality standards are strictly adhered to.

The Commissioner was inspecting progress of such works in Udyoga Nagar, Vijayapuri Colony, Vidya Nagar, and Navabharat Nagar, besides reviewing the removal of road and drain encroachments along Ponnur Road.

During his field visit, Mr. Srinivasulu instructed officials to complete ward-wise development projects on schedule and emphasised that ward secretariat staff must personally monitor works at the sites. He also stressed the need to enhance greenery in city parks and establish proper drainage systems along walking tracks to prevent waterlogging.

Inspecting Ponnur Road, the Commissioner noted that despite repeated appeals, both directly and through media, seeking voluntary cooperation, some individuals continued to encroach upon roads and drains, causing traffic congestion and obstructing sewage flow. He made it clear that there would be no compromise in eviction drives, asserting that 100% of such encroachments would be removed. “Those who fail to vacate voluntarily will be held responsible for any loss or damage,” he warned.
