Director Mo Hong Jin, who is known for his work in ‘2037’, ‘Missing You’, and ‘Our Town’, recently opened up about his experience working on the Korean and Vietnamese film titled ‘Leaving Mom.

’ He delved into how he worked on it, and how the casting went down, sharing a shocking revelation about the leading actor, Go Kyung Pyo.

Director Mo Hong Jin reveals Go Kyung Po was ‘accidentally’ cast for his film

As per reports shared by Naver, the popular actor opened up about working on the film ‘Leaving Mom’, which was a collaborative effort and included both Korean and Vietnamese actors and language. The dual-language film was released earlier this year in August and was one of his most ambitious projects yet. While attending the press screening and media conference for ‘Leaving Mom’, the actor turned director talked about his recent project and how fulfilling the experience was for him as a filmmaker. He also shared that Kyung Po, who plays one of the side characters in the film, was the “final piece of the puzzle.”He sang praises of the actor as well, adding that he felt it would have been awkward to contact him about the role; however, the two ended up meeting on a flight to Vietnam.

The two started talking about the project, and the director ended up pitching it to him then and there. “We talked in the restroom, and that’s how the casting happened,” he further added.

Plot of ‘Leaving Mom’

The premise of the film follows a street barber named Hwan who has seen a lot of hardship in his life. He works hard to take care of his mother, who is suffering from Alzheimer's. Slowly, he ends up embarking on a journey across Korea in order to meet his brother, whom he has never met, and bring their mother to him for a meeting before it's too late. The main cast includes Vietnam’s popular actors Tuan Tran and Hong Dao, along with renowned Korean actor Jung Il Woo, who is also extremely popular amongst the Vietnamese population.
