Goa Housing Board gets nod for legal, IT wings

Panaji: The state cabinet recently approved the setting up of a legal and IT cell in the Goa housing board (GHB), which will create 11 new posts in the board.The Goa housing board (GHB) is a statutory body constituted under the Goa, Daman and Diu Housing Board Act, 1968.

Its objective is to provide housing facilities to the Goan population at a reasonable price.

The board also undertakes commercial schemes and allots land to institutions. It functions as a self-sustaining body and does not receive any grants or aid from govt.At its meeting, the board approved the establishment of two new cells, a legal cell and an IT cell, and referred the proposal to the govt for approval and assessment of its staff strength through the administrative reforms department (ARD).The sanctioned staff strength of the GHB is 67. The board resolved to create 11 additional posts to set up the legal and IT cell.The proposal was then sent to the finance department, which approved the unfreezing of the existing 67 sanctioned posts of GHB and the creation of six new posts for the newly constituted IT and legal sections, as proposed by ARD.
