COIMBATORE: The Bazaar police in the city have registered a case against a goldsmith for defrauding a jewellery owner of 141 grams of pure gold.R. Lakshmi Narasimha, 46, of Raja Street in Coimbatore, has been running a jewellery shop in the same locality for the past 18 months.
He used to provide pure gold to a goldsmith to make gold ornaments.
V. Manokaran, 49, of Kempatty Colony, also used to receive pure gold from Lakshmi Narasimha to make ornaments and return them to Narasimha.On April 19, Manokaran procured 141.180 grams of pure gold to make ornaments. However, he did not return the gold in the form of ornaments. Since he failed to return the gold for a long time, Narasimha questioned him. However, Manokaran did not return the gold, citing various false reasons.Realizing that he had been cheated, Lakshmi Narasimha lodged a formal complaint with the Bazaar police station in the city on Friday. The police have filed a case against Manokaran and an investigation is underway.
