The Group of Ministers (GoM) on district reorganisation in Andhra Pradesh, which met at the Secretariat on Wednesday, decided against further division of mandals or panchayats and resolved to ensure that each Assembly constituency remains within a single administrative division. The GoM discussed corrective measures to address issues that arose from the previous government’s district reorganisation. The meeting, chaired by Revenue, Registration, and Stamps Minister Anagani Satya Prasad, was attended by Ministers Ponguru Narayana, Nadendla Manohar, Satya Kumar, Vangalapudi Anitha, Nimmala Ramanaidu, and B.C. Janardhan Reddy.
Mr. Satya Prasad said the panel reviewed the difficulties faced by people due to the earlier reorganisation. “During the elections, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan promised to resolve these issues. The Chief Minister has now issued specific directions based on the GoM’s preliminary report,” he said. The panel also discussed suggestions made by its member Ministers in detail.
Mr. Manohar stated that the final report would be submitted to the Chief Minister before the upcoming national census. “We will conduct a detailed study, keeping the time constraints in view, and submit a practical, people-friendly report soon,” he added.
