The State government has ordered providing ₹5 lakh as gratuity (a lump sum amount) to guest faculty members who are 60, in colleges under the Collegiate Education and the Technical Education departments.

This gratuity scheme will come into effect retrospectively from January 1, 2024, and will be applicable to all guest lecturers who have retired or passed away after serving in the last one year.

Guest lecturers who are 60 after serving for at least one year in the previous five years will also be covered by this scheme. The government has reserved a total of ₹44.15 crore for this scheme.

On January 6, 2024, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced health insurance of ₹5 lakh per annum and a lump sum of ₹5 lakh to serving guest faculty members after they cross 60 years, one day paid leave per month to those with more than 15 hours workload per week, and three months paid maternity leave to women guest lecturers.
