Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot was briefly stuck in a lift at the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) campus here on Saturday morning due to a suspected overload.
The incident occurred when the Governor was on the Muktagangotri campus in Mysuru to inaugurate the Indian Institute of Future Skills (IIFS). The elevator, which has a capacity of six persons, reportedly malfunctioned after more individuals, including security personnel, entered along with the Governor.
The lift failed to ascend and its doors remained shut, prompting immediate action from KSOU staff and technical personnel. After a few anxious moments, the doors were open and the Governor exited safely.
Choosing to avoid further use of the lift, the Governor climbed the stairs to the venue.
“The issue occurred due to overload and was resolved quickly,” said KSOU Vice-Chancellor Sharanappa V. Halse.
