Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Friday (May 1, 2026) that India has maintained stable energy supplies and shielded consumers from global price shocks despite a prolonged disruption caused by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz amid the West Asia crisis.

Mr. Puri said the country has remained resilient even after 60 days of supply disruption, attributing the stability to long-term planning and timely policy interventions by the Narendra Modi government.
