Govt approves over Rs46 crore for new police buildings in 4 districts

Patna: In a step towards strengthening law and order and modernising the police force across Bihar, deputy CM and home minister Samrat Choudhary on Saturday announced administrative approval for the construction of new police station buildings in four districts and a new office building for the superintendent of police in Begusarai.

The total financial sanction for these five projects stands at Rs 46.34 crore.The approved schemes include the construction of modern G+3 police station buildings in East Champaran, Araria, Saran and Kishanganj districts, along with a new G+3 office complex for the SP in Begusarai. Each police station building will have essential facilities such as spacious work areas, police barracks, residential accommodation for personnel, outhouses, furniture and other basic infrastructure required for efficient functioning.

In East Champaran, the new building will come up at the Chatauni police station premises at an estimated cost of Rs 11.4 crore. Araria district will see a similar modern structure at Narpatganj police station, with Rs 9.05 crore allocated for the project. In Saran, the Madhaura police station will get a new building at a cost of Rs 8.63 crore, while Kishanganj’s Dighalbank police station has been sanctioned Rs 8.67 crore for its upgraded facility.

Separately, Begusarai will get a new G+3 office building for the SP, with an approved budget of Rs 8.53 crore. These structures are designed to provide police personnel with a better working environment, enabling quicker and more effective service delivery to the public.The deputy CM emphasised that the state govt remains committed to continuously upgrading police infrastructure as part of its broader effort to make law enforcement more modern, responsive and capable. He said the proposals originated from the police headquarters and, after detailed evaluation, received administrative clearance to ensure improved resources for officers and enhanced security for citizens.“The execution of these projects is expected to contribute meaningfully to better policing, improved morale among personnel, and a stronger sense of safety among the people of Bihar,” Choudhary said.
