Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chairman Arvind Kejriwal launched a sharp attack on the Centre over its handling of the NEET-UG paper leak and its latest decision to transport NEET question papers using Air Force aircraft and bulletproof vehicles, saying the entire education system was being controlled by a mafia.

Earlier, reports suggested that the Centre was considering involving the defence forces to provide logistical support for the NEET re-examination, scheduled for June 21. Sources said a proposal was put forward to involve the Indian Air Force (IAF) in transporting the question papers to enhance security.

Questioning the effectiveness of using Air Force to prevent NEET paper leaks, Kejriwal said the Centre was avoiding the root cause of paper leaks and called for a sweeping reform of the education system.

Sharing a video message, the AAP national convenor said, “I myself am an engineer from IIT and an educated person. Therefore, I understand the importance of education. I believe that until every child receives a good education, the country cannot progress."

“On Friday, our country’s government announced that in order to prevent the NEET examination paper from being leaked, it will now be transported using Air Force aircraft and Air Force bulletproof trucks. What kind of joke is this? Do they think we are fools?" he added.

‘Attempt To Protect System’

Kejriwal accused the government of using theatrics to create an impression that a big step was being taken to prevent paper leaks. “The government has no intention of fixing the system. If there were a government with honest intentions, it would identify where the leakages are happening and plug them."

He said using the air force was an attempt to protect the existing system and the leaks would continue as long as the powerful mafia that had taken control of the education system continued to operate.

He also recalled the incident where a Class 12 student received low marks and later discovered that his Physics paper had been swapped with someone else’s paper.

“If a single child raises his voice, this education mafia will not spare him. They will not spare you, and they will silence everyone. Everyone will have to come together and raise their voice against this. Only when people speak up collectively will the government be forced to act," he added.

The National Testing Agency officially cancelled the May 3 NEET-UG examination following a massive nationwide question paper leak scandal. The breach was confirmed after investigators discovered that a “guess paper" circulated on social media matched all 90 Biology and 35 Chemistry questions from the actual exam.
