Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Monday said that state govt will soon advertise for 2,208 govt jobs through the Goa Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to fill vacancies in different govt departments.
“Of the 3,429 vacancies referred to the SSC, 1,221 have been advertised by the commission, and the balance to be advertised is 2,208. Forty-eight vacancies have already been filled through the SSC,” he said.The Goa Staff Selection Commission Act, 2019, came into effect on May 18, 2019, pursuant to which all the recruitments to Group C posts in the departments under the state administration are to be carried out only through the commission, ensuring merit-based recruitment.
The commission received requisitions from various departments intimating the vacancies for filling up the posts by direct recruitment for 2023, 2024 and 2025.Sawant said that temporary status was conferred by govt on all daily wage workers who have been working in govt departments, corporations and autonomous bodies for more than seven years.“Temporary status ensures fixed initial remuneration in the range of a minimum of Rs 21,800 to Rs 26,800 per month, along with leave benefits like casual leave, sick leave and maternity leave like regular employees, and an annual increment of 3%,” the CM said.
“The scheme will benefit around 3,000 daily wage employees.”On the absorption of home guards as police constables, Sawant said that recognising the long years of voluntary service put in by home guards, govt has given them the opportunity to serve as police constables.He said that the Goa Human Resource Development Corporation has become self-sustainable by generating its own revenue for its regular operations. “The present strength of GHRDC is more than 4,500 in various categories, namely security guards, housekeeping personnel, junior office assistants, MTS, drivers and casual workers who are deployed all over Goa in various govt departments and autonomous bodies at more than 300 locations,” Sawant said.The chief minister said that govt has provided a 10% reservation for GHRDC personnel for vacancies in police, directorate of fire and emergency services, forest department, and excise department.
