AICC in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan said that the State government, led by Revanth Reddy under the guidance of Rahul Gandhi, is working for the welfare and uplift of the marginalised and weaker sections through various schemes and programmes like ‘Sanna Biyyam’ (fine rice) distribution and Indiramma houses. She added that Mr. Rahul Gandhi is fighting for the protection of people’s rights at the national level, while the Narendra Modi-led Central government is only helping corporate companies.
Addressing party workers and others at the Ambedkar Centre in Wardhannapet town as part of the Janahita Padayatra led by TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud on Monday, she alleged that the Modi government is implementing anti-poor policies, while the Congress had brought schemes like NREGS.
TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud alleged that BJP MPs from Telangana won elections only due to ‘vote chori’. He also questioned them for ‘opposing’ the BC Bills aimed at providing 42% reservations for BCs.
Local MLA K.R. Nagaraju said that the second day of the padayatra, scheduled for Tuesday, had been postponed, but it would be conducted in the first week of next month.
The Congress leaders participated in the Janahita Padayatra for 5 km from Yellanda to Wardhannapet along the Warangal-Khammam highway. Thousands of party workers, supporters and local people joined the march, walking alongside Mr. Mahesh Goud in a show of solidarity.
As part of the padayatra, Mr. Mahesh Kumar interacted with beneficiaries of government welfare schemes, listening to their concerns.
Several prominent leaders, including Ministers Adluri Laxman Kumar, Konda Surekha, MLAs Naini Rajender Reddy, Gandra Satyanarayana, Ramchander Naik, Murali Naik, Yashaswini Reddy, senior leader Konda Muralidhar Rao and Warangal DCC president Errabelli Swarna, participated in the yatra.
