 Haryana family alleges assault by locals in Manali; probe on

MANALI: A family from Haryana on vacation in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, was allegedly assaulted by a group of locals on the evening of June 23, police said.According to the complaint, Pradeep, a resident of Mahendragarh district, was visiting Manali with his wife Deepika, their four-month-old daughter, his brother-in-law Jainendra, sister Asha, brother Gopal, and sister-in-law Nisha.

The family had rented a scooter and a bike and was returning to drop off the bike via Mission Road in Manali around 5 pm when they got caught in a traffic jam.

Pradeep stated that a person took the keys from him and tried to move the scooter but was unsuccessful.The person then returned the keys and began arguing. The complaint alleges that the person then grabbed his wife Deepika by the neck and threw her to the ground, causing both her and their infant daughter to fall onto the road.“When my brother Gopal came to help, suddenly three to four people appeared and started beating us,” Pradeep said in his statement.Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
