Gram panchayat president shot to death in Vijayapura

Unidentified miscreants killed a Gram Panchayat president of Devara Nimbargi village at Chadchan taluk in Vijayapura district on Wednesday (September 3, 2025).

Bheemana Gouda, who came to a barber shop was attacked by a group of 3-4 miscreants. They threw chilli powder in his eyes and shot him multiple times, before fleeing on motorbikes, eye witness accounts said.

The victim suffered injuries to his head and chest. He collapsed on the spot. Villagers shifted him to a private hospital in Vijayapura, where he was declared dead.

Bheemana Gouda had a criminal history. He was a known associate of gangster Mahadev Byargonda. Investigators suspect that the attack was an act of vengeance.

CPI Suresh Bendegumbal, Praveen Gerebal, and other officers and staff visited the spot.
