GST reforms 2.0 will boost economic growth, generate jobs: BJP leader N. Mahesh

Former Minister and BJP leader N. Mahesh on Monday said that the GST reforms 2.0 will boost the country’s economic development and create more job opportunities for the youth. The reforms are expected to speed up economic progress and help India achieve its ultimate goal of becoming the world’s top economy by 2047, he added.

Speaking to reporters at the party office, the former Minister stated that the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has introduced these reforms based on the successful implementation of GST over the past years. These measures largely aim to ease the burden on common people and further trigger economic growth.

He recalled that the Modi government, emphasising on the concept of “One Nation, One Tax,” implemented GST in 2017, and now the taxation system has been further streamlined, which will play a key role in strengthening the country’s economic progress.

Mr. Mahesh also remarked that while the Congress party made the country dependent, Mr. Modi launched self-reliant India campaign – Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan– for making the country self-reliant, announcing a package of ₹20 lakh crores when the country was fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to Mr. Modi’s vision, India, currently the world’s fourth-largest economy, is set to become the third-largest by 2027 and aims to achieve the position of the largest economy by 2047, realising the vision of Viksit Bharat.
