Rockstar Games has released the pre-load feature for the upcoming GTA Online: Money Fronts update, which enables console users to download the content early before its official launch on Tuesday, June 17 at 10 AM BST.
The pre-load feature spares players from waiting in line at launch and also guarantees seamless access to the new content the moment it becomes available. But the feature is only available on select platforms and with a couple of differences from previous updates.
Pre-load now available on PS5 and Xbox pre-launch
The Money Fronts update is now live to pre-download on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. The update can be accessed by the player through the console's updates tab, where it will be listed as a "pre-download." Although the update cannot be played until launch, pre-downloading the update means you can dive in as soon as it's live without having to wait. This is the first time Xbox platforms have been added to Rockstar's pre-load release. Microsoft has been piloting this feature for more than a year, and its inclusion here makes convenience available to more players. By contrast, PS4 users are not part of this advance download, a departure from past updates when they were included in the pre-load pool.
It is not yet known why Rockstar implemented this for this release.
File sizes, release time, and what comes next
The update is of a varying size on different platforms:
PC and PS4 users will only be able to start downloading the update once it goes live on June 17 at 10 AM BST. The PC version can be accessed through Steam, the Epic Games Store, and Rockstar Games Launcher. The PS4 installation also starts at the same time and should turn up in the downloads queue when available. The Money Fronts DLC comes after Rockstar's recent trend of providing pre-loads, which in the past appeared in the form of updates such as San Andreas Mercenaries, The Chop Shop, and Agents of Sabotage. This summer's update also arrives in tandem with the release of a new GTA+ month, so subscribers must redeem existing perks before Tuesday to prevent missing out on bonus money and content. The pre-load for GTA Online: Money Fronts is a nice convenience for console gamers, especially with Xbox support now included for the first time. With the update coming so soon, fans can get ready for seamless entry into the new cars, missions, and content Rockstar will likely provide when it's released on June 17.Also Read: Inside the scrapped GTA 6 story featuring a corrupt cop and a cartel lieutenant
