This destination provides you with peaceful beaches, lively nights, and a relaxed life, which is much different from the type of environment one would find in Rajasthan. Goa is the ideal location for a beach wedding with the lovely waves crashing into the shore along with the misty air. It's perfect for destination weddings that emphasise intimate beach ceremonies, grand receptions, and energetic parties with a seaside breeze. Beaches such as Palolem and Baga are just perfect for an open-air wedding here, while if an open-air wedding is not preferred, then the heritage churches and buildings with colonial architecture are the ideal places. Goa also provides a multicultural cuisine; one will enjoy delectable seafood as well as international cuisine here enjoyed by all.
Panaji: Goa University and the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) signed an MoU on Friday to strengthen collaboration in disaster research, academic programmes, and community outreach.
The pact, inked during the Conclave on Marine Multi-Hazards Services for the Indian Coastline, aims to enhance marine hazard management, protect Goa’s coastline, and provide advanced advisories for fisherfolk, coastal villages, and tourists.Chief minister Pramod Sawant, who was present at the signing, said the state is working towards self-reliance in disaster preparedness. “Goa’s coastline is our strength, but it also makes us vulnerable.
We have strengthened preparedness for coastal floods, storm surges, and tsunamis, updated SOPs, and invested in community awareness,” he said. “As hazards increase, we must strengthen partnership at the state, national, and community levels so that no village, fisherfolk or tourist is left unprotected.
Our response can’t be fragmented. We in Goa are working towards being self-reliant in disaster preparedness.”
The CM added that 300 youth were trained as ‘Aapda Mitras’ to assist during emergencies, with two to three volunteers now placed in every village. INCOIS director, T M Balakrishnan Nair, outlined the agency’s role in providing ocean forecasts, multi-hazard early warnings, and climate-linked services. He stressed the importance of integrated data systems and collaborative research in bolstering national preparedness.
“Our vision is to ensure every life and livelihood along India’s coast is protected through science-driven early warning services,” Nair said, noting INCOIS’s record of zero false tsunami alarms.
