Guest worker murdered near Coimbatore for denying homosexual advances

COIMBATORE: A guest worker murdered another guest worker in Coimbatore on Friday night when the latter refused his homosexual advances, police said. The Sulur police in Coimbatore district on Tuesday arrested M Mohammed Muktar, 31, of Kurhani village in Muzaffarpur district in Bihar on charges of murdering M Subhan Ansari, 50.Police said Muktar had worked in a private firm at Arasur in Coimbatore district for the last four years. He used to visit a Tasmac liquor outlet located on the Arasur – Vellanaipatti Road. He was known to have homosexual habits, police said.On June 7 night, he went to the Tasmac outlet where he met M Subhan Ansari, 50, of Bodhgawan in Patna in Bihar. The duo consumed liquor. Muktar took Subhan Ansari to a nearby dry stream where he approached Ansari for homosexual activities.

However, Ansari refused and argued with Muktar.In a fit of rage, Muktar took a large stone and assaulted Ansari with it. He smashed his head and inserted a stick into the anus of Ansari. He abandoned the dead body at the dry stream.On Saturday afternoon, the Sulur police recovered the body and sent it to the Government Medical College and ESI Hospital at Varadharajapuram postmortem. The police formed two special teams to nab the murderer.

Police said Ansari had worked in a foundry at Arasur for the last six months. He had not gone to work for a few days, and people saw him frequenting the Tasmac outlet. He was last seen at the liquor outlet around 8.30 pm on Friday. On Saturday afternoon, he was found dead.“We collected CCTV footage from the Tasmac outlet and discovered that Muktar and Ansari were chatting with each other. We arrested Muktar, who confessed to the murder,” said a police officer.
