A birthday celebration on a busy road in Gujarat has triggered anger and concern after a man was seen bursting firecrackers in the middle of traffic. The incident took place in Surat and involved a local businessman who chose to mark his son’s birthday in a way that put other road users at risk.
The act was recorded on camera and later shared online, where it quickly drew attention. Many viewers questioned how such behaviour was allowed on a public road, especially with vehicles passing by and people stuck in traffic.
Video Shows Crackers Burst Amid Traffic
The video opens at night on a public road. A man, identified as Deepak Ijardar, is seen standing in the middle of the street while another person helps him light firecrackers. Cars and two-wheelers can be seen nearby, and loud honking can be heard in the background as motorists wait for the road to clear. Despite the noise and chaos, the man continues with the celebration.
In the next part of the clip, Deepak raises both his hands in the air while holding two large firework fountains. Sparks shoot upward as smoke fills the area. People stand close by, some watching, while vehicles slowly pass on the side. The firecrackers go off just a few feet away from moving traffic.
Another clip shows him bursting crackers again on the main road, with cars driving past and headlights visible. The road is not blocked off, and there is no sign of safety measures being followed. The celebration continues as if it were taking place in a private space, even though it is clearly a public road.
When questioned about the incident, Deepak Ijardar reportedly brushed off the criticism and said, “I am a celebrity. What serious crime did I commit if I stopped you for five minutes?" His comment further upset many viewers.

Police Step In After Video Spreads
As the video gained traction, the Dumas Police in Surat took note of the incident. Reports stated that the act occurred near the post office in Sultanabad village. After reviewing the footage, Police Inspector Shri N. V. Bharwad of Dumas Police Station registered a case against the accused.
Deepak Ijardar was reportedly booked under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for bursting firecrackers on a public road and causing disruption.
Social Media Reacts With Anger
The clip sparked strong reactions online, with many users demanding strict action. A person commented, “Nothing is going to happen like this. Apologising post will not come."
Another wrote, “Bhaiya Inka Bhi Before and After Wala Video aana chaiye….Kisi ke sath bhed bhao nahi hona chaiye…"
Others called out the behaviour directly. “Audacity," a user said, while another added, “The clause of threatening the car driver should also be added."
