Gujarat Police has ranked third among major States in India for recovering stolen mobile phones, returning 53,564 devices to owners in the 2025–26 financial year under the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) system, officials said on Thursday (April 30, 2026). Under the CEIR system of the Department of Telecommunications, the state police successfully traced and returned 53,564 mobile handsets to their rightful owners, recording a recovery rate of 46.71%.
The CEIR platform enables nationwide blocking and tracking of lost or stolen mobile devices across telecom networks. Officials said Gujarat’s performance reflects strong coordination between police units and telecom data systems.
