Gumla Man Beaten to Death Over Love Triangle, Daughter Witnesses Attack

Gumla: A 45-year-old man was allegedly beaten to death in front of his 13-year-old-daughter by another villager over friendship with the same woman in Gumla district on Monday, police said on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Rajendra Minj, a resident of Chhichhwani village.On Monday evening, Minj was returning home with his daughter after buying vegetables at Dipakhoir, when accused Kamil Toppo, 50, attacked him and beat him to death with a stick, police said.Both Minj and Toppo are widowers and were said to be in a relationship with a 45-year-old married woman from the same village, who now resides in Delhi.“Raids are on to nab the accused,” said officer in-charge of Chainpur police station, Arbind Kumar.He added, “As per preliminary probe, both used to talk to the same woman, who is now in Delhi working as a domestic help. The deceased had three daughters and the accused a 14-year-old son.”Minj’s eldest daughter, Anjali, 19, lodged the complaint while her younger sister is aged 15, police said. Toppo’s son resides at his paternal uncle’s house in the same village as the accused is a habitual drinker.

Kumar said, “I spoke to the woman, who is working in a house in Delhi for several years, on Wednesday. She said she had asked both men not to call her as she has three children and her husband also lives in Gumla but is jobless. The woman is forced to work due to poverty. Further probe is on.”The OC added that they haven’t yet made the woman a party to the case.
