A special court in Guntur on Wednesday sentenced Naramamidi Nagaraju alias Chinni, son of Pothuraju of Kondapalli village in Krishna district, to rigorous life imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹1,100 in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a 13-year-old girl from Kottareddypalem village in Chebrolu mandal.
The verdict was delivered by Judge R. Sarath Babu, IV Additional District and Sessions Judge-cum-Special Judge for SC/ST Cases, Guntur, under Section 235(2) Cr. P.C.
According to the police, Nagaraju, who earlier lived in Kottareddypalem, had developed an illicit relationship with the victim’s mother. After the relationship soured, he allegedly lured the girl to his house and strangled her to death on July 15, 2024.
The case was registered based on a complaint by the victim’s father, under Sections 302 and 363 IPC, read with provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
The investigation, led by B. Janardhan Rao, SDPO Tenali, confirmed the crime with technical and witness evidence. The accused, who evaded arrest for four months, was apprehended on July 15, 2024.
