Gurgaon encounter: Notorious criminal Abid injured in shootout; police arrest 2

GURGAON: In an encounter with the Crime Branch Punhana police, two individuals, including notorious criminal Abid, were arrested on Tuesday. Abid, who is wanted in nearly a dozen cases involving robbery, attempt to murder, cattle smuggling, illegal weapons possession, and murder, sustained a bullet injury to his right leg during the exchange of fire in Nuh.

According to police officials, the encounter took place when Crime Branch personnel attempted to intercept the suspects based on a tip-off. Abid and his accomplice opened fire in an attempt to flee, prompting the police to retaliate. During the crossfire, Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Suraj narrowly escaped injury after a bullet struck his bulletproof jacket.The injured criminal was immediately taken into custody and rushed to Government Medical College, Nalhar, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

His condition is stable according to the police.

Police recovered a country-made pistol and a motorcycle from the spot. Preliminary investigations suggest the firearm was being used in recent criminal activities. The suspects were allegedly planning a crime in Nuh area when they were nabbed. Further investigations are underway, and additional arrests are expected as police continue to probe Abid’s network.
