GURGAON: A total of 543 accident victims received approvals from the Gurgaon traffic police for cashless treatment up to Rs 1.5 lakh from district hospitals in nearly 11 months.Gurgaon traffic cops topped the state with the highest number of cashless treatment approvals for road crash victims under the scheme from Oct 2024 to Aug 25.
Panipat ranked second with 467 approvals from empanelled hospitals.
Gurgaon has 22 empanelled hospitals, where 543 accident victims received cashless treatment during the period.The scheme aims to save lives by providing timely treatment to road accident victims. Officials stated that it was initially introduced on an experimental basis in Haryana and Assam last year before being notified pan-India on May 5, 2025.
"Any accident victim can avail the facility. While the treatment starts immediately, the hospital authorities check about such patients with us and seek our approval, following which our cops prepare the spot report and check if the person really got hurt in an accident in the least possible time. After receiving a green signal from the traffic police, hospitals provide cashless treatment to the victims up to Rs 1.5 lakh.
The govt aims to ensure quick treatment, care, portability, and financial protection in emergency situations," said DCP Traffic Rajesh Mohan.Out of 606 cases submitted for police approval, 543 were approved during the period. Hospitals later claim the bills from the local administration. In Gurgaon, patients received cashless treatment at 22 hospitals, including 18 private hospitals and four govt hospitals.
Empanelled hospitals in the city include Park Hospital, Mamta Hospital, Local Civil Hospital in Sector 10, Sohna Civil Hospital, SDCH Pataudi Government Hospital, Kathuria Hospital, Umang Superspeciality Hospital, Jain Hospital, Kriti Hospital, Umkal Hospital, Chirag Hospital, Swami Amardev Hospital, Mayom Hospital, and Geetanjali Hospital in Pataudi, among others.Panipat traffic police received 597 approval requests, rejecting 123 and approving 467 cases. Sirsa traffic police approved 354 cases, the third highest in the state, followed by Fatehabad with 332 approvals, Rewari with 257, Karnal with 202, Kurukshetra with 173, Sonipat with 166, and Ambala with 150 approvals up to August 26. Panchkula police issued the fewest approvals, with 12 cases for cashless treatment of road accident victims during the said period.
