A habitual property offender, involved in a recent theft, was arrested by the South East Zone of the Commissioner’s Task Force along with the Rein Bazar police. Nearly ₹5.98 lakh in cash was recovered from him.
The accused, identified as Shaik Hafeezuddin, 22, a wall painter by profession and resident of Shah Colony, Dabeerpura, had previously been arrested for a series of thefts. Despite his earlier imprisonment, he resumed stealing to fund his lifestyle.
According to the police, on Friday, July 11, Hafeezuddin was near Waheedunnisa Begum Masjid, when he noticed a large crowd. Taking advantage of the distraction, he used a duplicate key to open the storage compartment of a parked scooter Inside, he found a black polythene bag filled with cash, which he stole and fled.
A case was booked by the Rein Bazar police. Following a tip-off, law enforcement tracked and nabbed the accused.
