Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday shared a video online in which he is seen interacting with what he described as “dead voters,” while crediting the Election Commission for the encounter.
Posting the clip on social media, Gandhi wrote, “I have had many interesting experiences in life, but never got the chance to have tea with ‘dead people’. Thank you, Election Commission, for this unique experience!”
In the video, Rahul Gandhi jokes, "I have heard that you guys are not alive. The Election Commission has killed you.". He further asks them how did they got to know about it. One of them answers that they discovered through the Election Commission's website.
The video comes as the Opposition, particularly Rahul Gandhi, attacked the Election Commission over voter theft and linked it to the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in poll-bound Bihar.
On August 7, Rahul Gandhi alleged that fake people were being added to voter lists and attempted to validate his point by showing the Karnataka electoral rolls.
The Raebareli MP claimed there was a 'bhayankar chori' (massive theft) of votes in the Mahadevapura assembly segment of Bangalore Central Lok Sabha seat, a charge countered and rubbished by the poll body.
The Election Commission has, time and again, rejected the claims of Rahul Gandhi and other Opposition leaders, calling them misleading.
