Surat resident Jignesh Talaviya (36) allegedly faked his own abduction and sent a message to his wife demanding Rs 50 lakh as ransom from his family.
SURAT: Surat resident Jignesh Talaviya (36) allegedly faked his own abduction and sent a message to his wife demanding Rs 50 lakh as ransom from his family. Based on the message, Utran police traced him to Shiv Hotel in Godhra city of Panchmahal district. According to police, Talaviya had lost money in share market trading. After he went missing on June 12, his wife filed a missing complaint with Utran police. Talaviya allegedly posed as a kidnapper and sent a message to his wife Nisha claiming he had been abducted. He demanded Rs 50 lakh from his family, relatives and friends to clear his debts. Based on the message, police traced him to a hotel in Godhra on June 15. Talaviya worked as an accountant with a Surat-based diamond firm. Police have booked him for allegedly misleading the police and creating fake evidence.During the investigation, the man was asked to recreate the sequence of events and demonstrate how he recorded the video showing himself tied up and helpless.
