Amid the ongoing tension ober Bengaluru demolition row, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan shared a stage on Wednesday and shook hands.
The development came during the 93rd Sivagiri Pilgrimage event, being held in Varkala, Kerala. Siddaramaiah is in Kerala to participate in the event and pay tribute to the enduring legacy of Sree Narayana Guru, the revered social reformer.
This is the first time that Siddaramaiah and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan are sharing a stage following their recent political face-off over the Kogilu illegal encroachment demolitions.
According to the sources, Vijayan left the event before Siddaramaiah’s address. However, before leaving, the Kerala Chief Minister went to Siddaramaiah and had a cordial chat. Reportedly, Vijayan also informed Siddaramaiah of his urgency to leave in order to attend the cabinet meeting.

Siddaramaiah Vs Pinarayi Vijayan
The face-off between Siddaramaiah and Vijayan came in response to the Kerala Chief Minister’s criticism of “bulldozer action" to evict people in two colonies in Bengaluru’s Kogilu Layout. However, the party’s own central leaders dispproved of the action.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his Deputy DK Shivakumar on Saturday said that Vijayan had spoken without knowing facts about the encroachment clearance that took place earlier in the week.
Siddaramaiah added that the houses were built illegally on hazardous waste dumping grounds. Meanwhile, Shivakumar asked Vijayan to refrain from “interfering in Karnataka’s affairs".
