HYDERABAD
Senior BRS leader and former minister T. Harish Rao Rao has requested Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development D. Anasuya (Seethakka) to regularise the services of Panchayat Secretaries working on outsourcing basis, clear the pending bills of former sarpanches and panchayat secretaries and also release funds for development of gram panchayats.
In a letter addressed to the Minister on Sunday, Mr. Harish Rao stated that the previous BRS Government had appointed 9,350 Panchayat Secretaries in 2019 for the comprehensive development of villages. However, after the Congress came to power, timely release of funds was discontinued and sanitation had taken a backseat. Villages were groping in darkness due to lack of maintenance of street lights and unable to pay road tax and fill fuel, the gram panchayats were handing over the keys of tractors purchased during the BRS regime to the officials.
Mr. Harish Rao demanded that the government release funds to Gram Panchayats regularly, clearing pending bills of former sarpanches and panchayat secretaries, regularise panchayat secretaries working on outsourcing basis as Junior Panchayat Secretaries as promised in the Congress party’s manifesto, conduct special drives against the spread of seasonal diseases and clear salaries of sanitation staff pending for the last three months.
