YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has called upon the youth to rise against the NDA government’s “anti-people policies” in Andhra Pradesh, and announces his plan to appoint zone-wise working presidents for the party’s youth zing, identify promising leaders, and potential MLA candidates for the future elections.
Addressing members of the youth wing on Tuesday, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy urged the young cadres to aggressively use social media to expose the government’s failures, mobilise public sentiment, and strengthen the party at the grassroots.
“The cadre has to harness the power of social media to expose the anti-people policies. The youth have to act as a bridge between the party and the public, voicing the concerns of the people, while building grassroots support,” he said, adding, “This is the time for the youth to emerge as future leaders.”
Stressing the “values of credibility, resilience, and commitment” that the YSRCP was founded on, he recounted the party’s turbulent early days.
“When we started, it was just my mother and I as elected representatives. When 18 MLAs defected from their parties, we asked them to resign and face the people. We won the by-elections with a historic margin, gaining nationwide attention,” he said.
Mr. Jagan recalled how the TDP had lured away 23 of the 67 YSRCP MLAs after the 2014 elections, accusing them of political opportunism. “Despite relentless pressure, we stood firm, became the people’s voice, and constantly questioned the government on their behalf,” he said.
Calling for a renewed wave of activism, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “Youth must carry forward this fighting spirit. Your hard work today will lay the foundation for future victories.”
