Harry Kane, widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, entered the record books on Saturday (Sunday IST) during England’s third and final Group L match of the FIFA World Cup 2026 by becoming his country’s all-time leading goalscorer in FIFA World Cup history.

The 32-year-old England striker, who plays for Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, scored his third goal of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the 67th minute of the Group L clash against Panama at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.

Kane’s goal against Panama took his FIFA World Cup tally to 11, moving him past Gary Lineker to become England’s outright highest goalscorer in the tournament’s history. Lineker scored 10 goals in 12 FIFA World Cup matches across the 1986 and 1990 editions, while Kane now has 11 goals to his name.

In the list of England’s highest goalscorers in FIFA World Cup history, Kane is followed by Lineker with 10 goals, while Geoff Hurst occupies third place with five goals, scored across two editions of the tournament.
