Dominic McLaughlin, the actor who would be donning the Gryffindor uniform and a lightning scar, opened up about his excitement to enter the wizarding world. While he was promoting his new film, ‘Grow,’ starring alongside Nick Frost, who plays Hagrid, he answered the questions related to the most anticipated series.

In an interview with BBC News, McLaughlin claimed that the transformation to being Harry Potter has been amazing. “A bit surreal to be honest, because I was always a huge ‘Harry Potter’ fan when I was younger,” he said, before adding, “And it was like the dream role, of course, so I’m thrilled to be able to be doing it.”

About the enormous and dazzling cast

The series has started with the production in the U.K., which will continue through spring 2026. The royal trio who were selected amongst 30,000 children – Harry (played by Dominic McLaughlin), Hermione (played by Arabella Stanton), and Ron (played by Alastair Stout) – were announced in May 2025, which created a storm on the internet. The cast for the series airing in 2027 also includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge, according to Variety. Furthermore, the cast includes Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley, and Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom.

Weasley siblings have been finalised and announced

Recently, HBO announced the Weasley siblings, including the mischievous twins Fred and George, the stern Percy, and none other than Ginny. However, the casting of Arthur Weasley has not been made public yet.
