A 24-year-old law student died in Haryana's Nuh after his car rammed a stationary truck from behind on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway early on Saturday. The incident was caught on CCTV camera.
The video showed that two commercial carrier trucks were parked, one behind the other, on the left-hand side of the stretch just when a black Scorpio car is seen hitting one of the vehicles from behind. Police said the driver of the car, identified as third-year LLB student Rahul, dozed off and lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the truck.
At the time of the accident, Rahul was on his way back home to Haryana's Palwal when he left from Alwar in Rajasthan after meeting one of his friends there around 4 am.
Visuals showed the car was severely damaged while Rahul got stuck inside the mangled car. Hearing a loud noise of the impact, passers-by rushed to the accident spot to help, but it was too late.
Rahul suffered grievous injuries to his head, neck and legs, officials said. The police identified Rahul and informed his family about the incident.
Locals informed the highway authorities before an ambulance reached the spot and efforts to retrieve the victim's body from the rubble were launched. After a lot of struggle, Rahul's body was removed from the car and taken to a nearby hospital and the police were informed.
