Have Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato buried the hatchet? 'Camp Rock' fans get emotional as singers hug it out post Jonas Brothers show: PICS

The Jonas Brothers on Sunday kicked off their 20th anniversary tour at MetLife Stadium in their home state of New Jersey. The band took over top trends on social media, all thanks to their reunion with their special guest - Demi Lovato. The reunion took place on Sunday, with the singers hitting the stage for one epic performance. This marked their first stage appearance together since starring in the 2008 Disney Channel hit 'Camp Rock', where Joe Jonas and Lovato played on-screen (and reportedly off-screen) love interests. They reprised their roles in 'Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam' in 2010.During the MetLife show, the group performed fan favourites “This Is Me” and “Wouldn’t Change a Thing” from the films.

The moment went viral almost instantly, sending the concert crowd and online fandom into a frenzy.Lovato later shared photos from the night on Instagram, writing, “Hey Siri, play This Is Me by Mitchie Torres.” The Jonas Brothers’ official page also posted images from the reunion, but it was Nick Jonas’ post that drew the most emotional reactions.

Nick uploaded several photos, including one of him hugging Lovato, and wrote, “Can’t put into words what last night meant to me and my family.

Growing up down the street from this iconic venue and having the chance to play to a sold-out crowd of 52k people was truly a dream come true.”While he didn’t tag Lovato directly, he added, “Not to mention the special guests who were gracious enough to give incredible performances that signified the journey we’ve been on over these past 20 years. My heart is full.”

He concluded, “It’s going to probably take me a few days, maybe weeks to fully unpack what happened on August 10, 2025, but I’ll tell you one thing for sure — I can’t wait to get back on stage tomorrow night in Bristow and continue this celebration of life, family, and music.”Viral Hug MomentFollowing their duet, Joe was seen embracing his former co-star and rumoured ex-girlfriend. Lovato then hugged Nick, patting him on the back, before greeting Kevin with another hug.

Fans were surprised to see the display of affection, given Lovato’s history with the brothers — including romantic links to both Nick and Joe. “This is so cute but I’m shocked Demi agreed to be in the same vicinity as Nick,” one fan wrote online.

Social Media BuzzBefore Nick’s post, fans had noticed Lovato recently followed her former best friend and rumoured ex, Nick, on Instagram. However, her initial tags in the reunion photos included Joe Jonas, Kevin Jonas, and the Jonas Brothers’ official account, but not Nick. One fan shared a screenshot of the tags, joking, “Demi tagging Joe, Kevin and Jonas Brothers handle on IG but not Nick (dead emoji).” Another quipped, “That friend who kills the vibe by not tagging someone in the photo.”Lovato later appeared to add Nick’s tag to her post.

Rumoured RomanceWhile both Lovato and Nick have denied ever dating, fans have long speculated otherwise. Many point to Lovato’s 2017 track “Ruin the Friendship” as evidence, with lyrics such as: “Put down your cigar and pick me up / Play me your guitar, that song I love.”

In a 2017 interview with Noisey, Lovato said the song was inspired by frustration over “a certain situation.”

She admitted she sent the track directly to the person it was about, calling the move “ballsy” and adding: “The person knew about my feelings, but neither of us had ever acknowledged it before.”

Why Did They Stop Talking? In June 2018, Lovato unfollowed Nick on Instagram, at a time with his romance with Priyanka Chopra went viral. The shocking unfollow came months before Demi's near-fatal overdose and Nick's engagement and wedding to Priyanka. While the two had been long-time friends and even worked together for several years, the singer was visibly absent from Nick's wedding celebrations and she did not also comment publicly on it. The exact reason for their falling-out remains unclear, and it’s unknown whether it was related to her personal struggles, his marriage, or both.
