The Kerala High Court has reserved its order on an anticipatory bail petition filed by Hirandas Murali, a Malayalam rapper popularly known as Vedan, who was recently charged with sexually assaulting a woman doctor multiple times on the promise of marriage.
The court also extended the restraint on his arrest till Wednesday, when it is slated to decide on the bail plea. The woman’s counsel had a week ago sought more time to submit details of personal chats between Vedan and her.
The government’s counsel had then opposed the anticipatory bail plea, citing that Vedan had earlier been charged with narcotic cases, while the Forest department had filed a case against him for possession of a pendant made of suspected leopard tooth.
