A routine evening at a popular local eatery in Basaveshwara Nagara of Bengaluru turned into a scene of violence late last night. The establishment, known as Sri Guru Raghavendra Dosa Camp located on Thimmaiah Road, was experiencing its typical night time rush when a physical confrontation broke out between customers.

What began as a minor disagreement over a trivial physical contact escalated rapidly, resulting in the death of a young man and leaving the local community in a state of shock.

Escalation of a Trivial Dispute

The incident occurred around 10:00 PM as diners were lined up for their evening meals. According to police, Shashikumar, who worked as a loan recovery agent, had visited the hotel for dinner after completing his work for the day.

As he was finishing his meal and preparing to leave the premises, he accidentally brushed his leg against another patron identified as Manjunath. This minor physical contact immediately provoked an angry response from Manjunath, leading to a heated verbal exchange between the two men.

Although the hotel management intervened in an attempt to de-escalate the situation and successfully ushered both individuals out of the establishment, the animosity persisted. Manjunath reportedly refused to let the matter rest and contacted his younger brother, Bhavyaraj, instructing him to arrive at the location armed with a weapon.

The Violent Encounter

Within ten minutes of the phone call, Bhavyaraj arrived at the scene equipped with a sharp dagger. The two brothers then allegedly launched a coordinated attack on Shashikumar.

Witnesses describe a brutal scene where the victim was stabbed multiple times in the neck and hands. The suddenness and intensity of the assault left Shashikumar collapsed in a pool of blood on the street outside the hotel.

Nearby residents and patrons quickly alerted the authorities by calling the emergency number 112. Police personnel arrived promptly and transported the critically injured Shashikumar to a nearby hospital. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, the injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Law Enforcement Response and Investigation

The morning after the incident, the usually busy Dosa Camp remained closed, drawing the attention of regular customers who were soon informed of the previous night’s events. DCP West Division, Yatish, confirmed that the motive behind the killing was a petty argument triggered by the accidental leg touch during dinner service.

He noted that the police have already formed three specialized teams to conduct a thorough investigation into the sequence of events.

Following the attack, the two brothers fled the scene in an attempt to evade capture. however, the Basaveshwara Nagara police acted swiftly to track their movements. Both Manjunath and Bhavyaraj have since been taken into custody.

As the legal proceedings begin, the community is left to reflect on how a momentary loss of temper over an insignificant accident could result in the loss of a life and the devastation of a family.
